FT.com – Wall Street stocks were set to open lower on Friday amid fears of bigger-than-expected writedowns and loan-losses at financial companies and as Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) agreed to absorb Countrywide Financial (NYSE:CFC), the troubled mortgage lender.
