If the home is for sale "AS IS" you can be sure its not in great shape. Either its not up to code or need some major updates! I would bring in a home inspector BEFORE making an offer. The only reason you can get out of an offer without losing money is if the house is uninhabitable.

ANYbody is supposed to claim any income over $400 on their tax form at years end.
Most garage sales people won't do it.
But, I did read the other day that Paypal is supposed to turn in sales in excess of $20,000 to the IRS! Ebay as well.
