If you did not sign a contract wit this agent then you are free to go with another agent and go with a broker, they own there real estate company and have been a realtor for at least five years and have had additional training. Have the Broker/Owner help you to purchase the short sale home you want to by and not deal with the flaky realtor. Not knowing who to make a escrow check out to is a no brainer.Be sure to buy title insurance and have a home inspection done. You do not want to buy a money pit. Buy the short sale home and enjoy your new home problem free.

i live around the corner from where the cab driver was shot.

My understanding is that Classon is the dividing line between CH and Bed-Stuy, then it's Bed Stuy. Or is that some real estate marketing pablum?

I'm hoping that cab drivers take mercy on me and realize that not all fares are waiting to shoot them in the face in the same way I take mercy and realize not all cab drivers refuse to pick up black people.

It is a buyer's market. It really doesn't sound like you are in a financial position to purchase an investment property right now.

The rule of thumb in an investment property, is that you should only buy one if the rent is not required in order for you to easily afford the mortgage payment. If you have that kind of income, then by all means invest, but if you will be in serious financial trouble and have to dig into savings for the mortgage in the event you will be short a rental…then you need to wait until your income is higher.
